The Bishop of Hertford, Bishop Michael has confirmed that the induction of the Revd Simon Vivian as Vicar of Sawbridgeworth will take place on the afternoon of Sunday 20th September.

Churchyard Working Party

Thank you very much for those who attended the churchyard working party on Saturday, we had 11 volunteers in total and a considerable amount of work was able to be carried out. Our next church yard working party is on Saturday 29th August. The September churchyard working party will be brought forward to Saturday 19th September in preparation for the Induction of Father Simon Vivian.

Ordination of Rachel Moate

Rachel Moate our former reader will be ordained at St Albans Cathedral on Saturday 23rd September, numbers are limited. Angela and Ron Alder will be representing Great St Marys at this service. We continually pray for Rachel.

Gazebo's Required

If anyone has a gazebo, we could borrow for a weekend in September we need 2 or 3 if possible, for a church event. If you can lend us a gazebo, please email:

We are continuing our food bank collections they desperately need women's and men's deodorant, disposable razors and shaving gell/foam.  No milk please they have plenty of supplies.

Our service this week is on Sunday at 09.30 and will be a said Eucharist and will be led by Reverend Debbie, for those who want to, you will be able to take communion in one kind only (The Bread) for those who are not comfortable in taking communion Reverend Debbie will lead us in an act of spiritual communion immediately after.

If you wish to take communion please remain in your seats until you are directed to by one of the stewards.

Reverend Debbie will also be providing us with a recorded service that will be streamed online, here and on Facebook, for those who are shielding or unable to come to church.

Wearing of Facemasks/Face coverings

The latest advice from the government and the Bishop of Hertford on wearing of Facemasks/face coverings in church is that it is advisable to wear during the time in church including private prayer and during services, the current advice is not compulsory only strongly recommended. There is strong evidence to suggest that wearing of facemasks/face coverings significantly reduces the risk of viral transmission.
