WANTED
Have you seen this man?

In 1812 Thomas Fisher took a rubbing of a damaged brass propped up against the wall in the church. It is a picture of a cleric, probably from between 1360 to 1420, judging by what he is wearing. Could it have been John Hill, vicar of Sawbridgeworth until his death in 1380? The brass is not there today. Sadly, nobody knows what happened to it.

Details kindly supplied by the Bishop's Stortford and District Local History Society, Curator Mr W J Wright Tel +44 (0) 1279 722557.
